Our Story

Scott &
Dominik

We are keeping the engagement low budget as we are saving every penny for the big day. We are doing it our way = Big love, small budget.

That means a party we have poured ourselves into, food cooked with our own hands, and the people we love having in our lives all under one roof. We can not wait to celebrate this first chapter with you all and whoever you bring to celebrate with us.

"Come as you are. Leave with a full heart."

A Croatian Tradition

The Koverta

Your showing up is the biggest gift we could ask for, so please do not bring a gift.

We know through experience that no matter how many times we say that, bottles of wine, chocolate and flowers inevitably turn up. We rarely drink, are allergic to dairy and flowers make Scott sneeze, so please do not waste your hard-earned cash on these small gestures, as we hate anything going to waste.

However, if you insist (as we know some people do), then we will follow a Croatian tradition — the koverta.

Dominik comes from a Croatian family, and over there a gift almost always comes the same way. A little cash, tucked into a beautiful card, sealed in an envelope called a koverta. Bought presents and registries have never really been a thing. However, a gift like this can make a big difference to a couple as they start their life together, and is simply seen as the warmest, most practical thing you can do.

Please just remember, you joining us and making this a night of the best memories is the only gift we want — this is simply a footnote to make sure there are no wasted bottles of wine and chocolates.

Good to Know

Frequently Asked

Yes. A generous self-catered spread of canapés, snacks and cakes, all made by us. There is no proper sit-down dinner though, so please have a big lunch beforehand. Drinks are available to buy at the bar all evening.

Come as you are. Anything from smart casual to cocktail glam, we just want you to be comfortable. Just remember… there will be photographs.

London Luton (LTN) is the easiest and closest, with London Stansted (STN) and East Midlands Airport (EMA) also handy. Feel free to fly in Saturday and out Sunday. But if you are here Friday to Monday, we will help you find accommodation.

Corby for the weekend. Peterborough or Corby if you are staying longer.

The party itself is at the Holiday Inn in Corby, so it is the easy choice. Stay any nights that suit you, anywhere from Friday to Monday. Scott works for an events company, so has secured discounted rates. Once we have that ready, you can book and pay for your own room. Coming earlier or staying longer? You are welcome to stay in our village of Thorney, Peterborough, at The Rose & Crown. Thorney is just outside Peterborough, so we will sort lifts to and from the station or airport. We can accommodate 4 to 6 people at our house on days outside of the weekend too, obviously family first. Just note it on your RSVP.

There are multiple hotels in Corby, and even with our discounted rate you may be able to save a £ or two. But when you factor in a cab, you will pay more. Another benefit of the Holiday Inn is that use of the spa, gym and pool is included in the rate we negotiated for the room.

Honestly, your presence is all we want. We have everything we need at home and we are particular about what we keep, so please do not feel you have to bring anything. If you would like to, then a little gift in the card is more than enough. It is a lovely Croatian tradition of ours, and there is more about it further up the page.

We do not drink, so please no “bottles” (obviously, we will drink on the night, but it is rare we do). Scott is allergic to so many things, and especially milk, so no chocolates etc.

You being able to come along and make memories really is everything we want.

The engagement party on Saturday is our main event! The next morning is a relaxed Sunday breakfast in a private dining room at the Holiday Inn for anyone still around. If you are not staying at the hotel but live in Corby, you are also welcome, there is just a small breakfast charge of about £15. Just tell us if you fancy sharing your hangover for breakfast.

Pop the total number of guests on your RSVP. The more the merrier. Little ones are welcome, but be aware there will be a drag queen, and likely a foul-mouthed one, so you can be the judge on what time they stay until.
